Appalachiosaurus montgomeriensis

Appalachiosaurus was a medium-sized tyrannosaur known from the Late Cretaceous Demopolis Chalk formation, Alabama, US. It was a derived member of the Eutyrannosauria; closely related to, but not a true member of the Tyrannosauridae. Appalachiosaurus is known from only partial remains; but it is enough to paint a picture of a strong, but gracile predator. It would have hunted the various Hadrosaurs of the island continent of Appalachia; the eastern half of North America during the Cretaceous period (seperated from the western half; Laramidia by the Western Interior Seaway).
